Introduction to Science Communication is a self-paced online course for academic employees and PhD students. It consists of 6 modules. Each of the modules includes content in the form of a video(s) and is followed by a short evaluation.

- Module 2: Communicating Science Towards Professional Public
- Module 3: Communicating Science Towards Broad Public
- Module 4: Practical Formats of Science Communication
- Module 5: Social Networks in Science Communication
- Module 6: Media and Science
You can obtain an EDUC Certificate for successful completion of this course.
The course is open from 15th of October 2024 until 31st of May 2025. You can already enroll yourself to this course using the „sci-comm-24-25“ self-enrolment key.
Details of the learning scenario
This learning offer is asynchronous and self-paced. To succeed in this online course, you need the following:
- find time in your schedule to study the course at your own pace
- approximately B2 level English to understand the content
- answer the evaluations after each module before the 31st of May 2025
The workload is approximately 18 hours.
The minimum technical requirements to participate are good internet connection and your university account to log into EDUC Moodle.

Pre-requisites: To successfully enroll to the course, you should:
- have approximately B2 level of English
- be an academic employee, PhD student or relevant admin research support (project manager, marketing manager etc.) employee of one of the EDUC Alliance university

After enrolling in the course, please follow the instructions and fill in an entry questionnaire.
Upon successfully completing this course, participants can understand what science communication is and why it is an essential transferable skill. They are familiar with various formats and audiences and can identify the key goals and challenges in effectively communicating scientific information. They know how to approach the professional public, publish and present a successful paper in PE journals and conferences, and understand the publication process in journals and peer review in SSH disciplines. By the end of the course, participants have a comprehensive understanding of science communication principles and practices and are equipped with the skills to convey scientific information.
