Nowadays, any public or private entity needs European funding to develop its own projects, in any sector from health, culture, creativity, inclusion, security, digitalization to new technologies, climate, energy, environment, food, and agriculture, among others. Highly qualified personnel are needed to attract European funding and prepare European project proposals with the highest chances of success, as well as for their proper execution.
Currently, there is a detected lack of technical and transversal skills in the labour market for the preparation and management of such projects. Therefore, this course offers an extraordinary opportunity to gain practical training in attracting European funds and managing European projects, which is highly demanded by the current and future job market.
Objectives
- Understand the main European programs that finance projects for public and private entities.
- Become familiar with the concept of European projects and European funds.
- Manage information sources on the Internet and documentary sources related to European funds.
- Get acquainted with the search for European partners for the development of transnational cooperation projects.
- Be able to complete a European call with a real project idea and get it funded.
- Develop the necessary skills to formulate and present a European project.
- Learn the fundamental principles for the management of European projects once approved.
Learning Outcomes
- Students will be able to select the most suitable funding calls for their objectives from among all the available options. - -- Additionally, they will be able to actively seek partners, complete applications, and manage them once their projects have been approved.

Completion
Attendance to synchronous virtual sessions. Analysis of practical cases and preparation of a European project proposal sheet as a final course project.
Certification: Micro-credential
Upon successful completion of the final course project and minimum 85% attendance, participants will receive an internationally recognised micro-credential form Universitat Jaume I.
Staff from public entities (autonomous communities, provincial councils, city councils, public business sector, etc.) and private organizations interested in obtaining and managing European Union funds.
University professors and researchers who need to expand their knowledge on the application for and management of European projects.
Technicians from companies and NGOs.
Graduates with a bachelor's or master's degree who want to link their professional careers with the funding and management of European projects.
Activities
A theoretical part will focus on understanding European institutions, how they operate and, the actions that may become calls for aid programs or projects.
Most of the course will be practical, using real examples of different types of projects and programs and learning to use the tools of the European Commission and other funding agencies in the European Union.
Live virtual sessions: Presenting funding mechanisms to identify the best solutions for each participating entity.
Analysis of previous initiatives: Reviewing case studies of initiatives led by public and/or private entities.
Development of Skills: Fostering analytical and decision-making skills in the development of innovative European projects.
Practical case studies: Each session will include practical case studies to help participants navigate the complexities of the EU and its funding mechanisms.
New technologies: The course will explore various EU web tools, including project databases, electronic forms and registries (European Commission Authentication System), calls for proposals, cooperation projects, partner searches, and more.
